TRUMAN SERVES AS FIRST CONFERENCE ROAD OPPONENT FOR TIGERS

HAYS, Kan., Sept. 17 -- Fort Hays State University issued the following news release:

The Fort Hays State football team will play its first conference road game of the season at Truman State University on Saturday, September 19. Game time is set for 7:00 pm, in Kirksville, Mo. The Tigers enter the game at 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA, while the Bulldogs enter at 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State is coming off its first loss of the season last week to Missouri Western. The Griffons outscored the Tigers 31-7 in the second half to leave Hays with a 58-31 win. The Tigers trailed by only three at halftime to Missouri Western, now 3-0 on the season. The Tigers have done much better this season putting points on the board, scoring over 30 in all three games this season.

Truman is coming off a 38-0 loss at Nebraska-Omaha, the second shutout victim of the Mavericks this season. This will be the third home game for the Bulldogs. Truman lost its season opener to then #17 ranked Minnesota State-Mankato, 31-13, but bounced back to defeat Oklahoma-Panhandle State the following week 54-7.

The Tigers are looking to pick up their first ever win over the Bulldogs. Truman is 3-0 against FHSU all-time, with all three games occurring since the Tigers joined the MIAA in 2006.

The game will be on radio at 103.3 FM with play-by-play from Voice of the Tigers Gerard Wellbrock. The broadcast will begin one hour prior to kickoff. If you are outside of the listening area, you can listen via the Internet at www.tigersports.net.
