Good news of any kind is welcome for the Cubs this season, soWednesday's news that rookie pitcher Ryan O'Malley does not have aserious arm injury was a positive in the face of a third straightloss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
An arthrogram performed Wednesday showed that O'Malley, who lefthis Wrigley Field debut Tuesday in the fifth, has a mild elbowstrain, far less serious a condition than originally feared. He wasput on the disabled list for a period of rest and medication but isexpected back in two weeks.
The Phillies' good news came in a 2-1 victory that moved them towithin 1oe games of the Cincinnati Reds for the National League wildcard.
