COMMITTEE CONSIDERING SHELTER SITES NEAR SCHOOL.(CAPITAL REGION)

Albany Fresh from a battle to keep the Albany City Rescue Mission away from Giffen Elementary School, residents of the impoverished South End may be facing two new proposals likely to spark neighborhood opposition.

Officials from the city and the Homeless Action Committee are scheduled today to look at two sites, one for a rooming house for homeless alcoholics and another for a shelter for street people. One proposed site is a Warren Street building just four blocks from Giffen, and the other is a South Ferry Street property about three blocks from the school.
